A chaotic scene erupted at the Purnia, Bihar, court on Thursday when a wife and her family physically assaulted and abducted her husband. The incident happened during a hearing related to the couple’s ongoing marital dispute. Despite the public nature of the abduction, no bystanders intervened.
The husband and wife, residents of different areas within the Purnia district, have been separated for a year. The wife’s family accused the husband and his father of alcohol abuse, which she claims led to her leaving the marriage. The husband’s lawyer stated that his client had sought reconciliation through the police family center.
The family court case involved failed mediation attempts. When the husband appeared for a court date, the wife initiated a physical attack and forcibly took him away. The wife claims the husband has remarried and demands the return of dowry as a condition for reconciliation.
