Bihar is witnessing heightened political activity ahead of the 2025 Assembly elections, with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll becoming a focal point. Allegations of irregularities in the voter list have come to the forefront, including deceased individuals being listed and living citizens being omitted. Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD’s CM candidate, has claimed his name is absent from the draft voter list, despite completing the necessary enumeration form. The JDU responded by accusing Yadav of misleading the public. Yadav addressed a press conference, stating that his name was not included, raising concerns about his ability to run in the elections. He further highlighted issues related to his EPIC number. The Patna district administration confirmed that Yadav’s name is registered in the voter list, but his polling station and serial number had been changed. Yadav questioned the implications of these changes for other voters, suggesting this was part of a larger scheme. JDU’s chief spokesperson, Neeraj Kumar, has accused Yadav of engaging in ‘political fraud’. The Election Commission immediately refuted Yadav’s statement, confirming his presence in the draft electoral roll. The matter has increased political tension in Bihar. The draft electoral roll for Bihar has been released, with a limited number of applicants submitting their documents.
