The Election Commission has instructed RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav to submit his voter ID card by August 16th, due to concerns over its authenticity. The commission has declared the card to be “clearly fake” and has initiated this action. The ECI has highlighted that the creation and utilization of false government documents constitutes a legal offense. This directive was communicated via a letter from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Electoral Registration Officer of the Digha Assembly constituency. Previously, the officer had written to Yadav, requesting he provide the voter ID for verification. The ERO’s investigation into past voter lists revealed that the Election Commission had never issued a voter ID with the number Yadav provided. The letter reiterated the seriousness of using fraudulent documents and demanded the surrender of the voter ID by the specified date.
