Bihar is witnessing a surge in infrastructure and development projects in the lead-up to the upcoming assembly elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made several visits to the state since February, participating in events that have seen the inauguration or foundation laying of projects worth over ₹54,400 crore. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also been actively involved, launching numerous schemes and projects during the same period, representing substantial investments in the state.
The government’s focus is on enhancing Patna’s infrastructure, with a specific emphasis on improving road networks. A notable project is the JP Ganga Path, connecting Kangan Ghat to Didarganj, valued at ₹3,831 crore.
Key projects in Patna include:
* A double-decker flyover on Ashokraj Path, from Kargil Chowk to Science College, constructed at a cost of ₹422 crore.
* The Mithapur-Mahuli Elevated Road, costing ₹1,105 crore and covering a distance of 8.7 km.
* A Multi-model hub and an underground sub-way near GPO Golambar.
* The new terminal at Patna’s JP International Airport.
* Drainage and water supply schemes and building structures.
* Five STP plants under the Namami Gange project.
* A part of the new 1,117-bed building of PMC.
* The new building of Tibbi College.
* A six-lane bridge-cum-road over the Ganga River, from Kachchi Dargah to Vidupur.
Between March and June, the double-engine government has initiated schemes totaling around ₹85,000 crore. These encompass completed projects, ongoing initiatives, and those in the initial stages of development. A significant portion of these investments is allocated to road and bridge construction. Major allocations include the ₹48,500 crore announced by the Prime Minister during his visit to Bikramganj and ₹5,900 crore in Siwan.

* Transfer of funds to beneficiaries of the PM (Rural) Awas Yojana.
* Repair of several kilometers of roads.
* Foundation stone laying for numerous projects in Begusarai.
* Foundation stone laying for an agricultural engineering college in Arrah.
* Foundation stone laying for various schemes under the Mukhyamantri Samagra Shahri Vikas Yojana.
* A scheme to restore the flow of the Ganga River near Bakhtiyarpur.
* Release of funds under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana and social security pension.
