The sex ratio in Bihar is experiencing a concerning decline, according to a new report. The Civil Registration System (CRS) report, which analyzed data from 2022, shows a significant imbalance in the number of births, with only 891 girls born for every 1,000 boys. This represents a worsening trend compared to 2020 and 2021. In 2020, the ratio was 964 girls per 1,000 boys, and in 2021, it was 908. While Bihar has a comparatively better record regarding total female births, the consistently decreasing sex ratio at birth is a cause for worry. The report underscores the urgent need to address this issue.
