In a high-level review meeting chaired by Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, officials outlined ambitious plans to accelerate the AgriStack project. The session focused on progress in farmer registry drives, emphasizing mission-mode execution to integrate more farmers into digital agriculture platforms.
From February 2 to 6, districts across Bihar will launch intensive campaigns for farmer registrations under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. Chief Secretary Amrit, addressing all District Magistrates via video conference, stressed the need for swift action to unlock the project’s next phase.
Performing districts stand to gain financial incentives. Those achieving 50% registration of PM Kisan beneficiaries will receive Rs 1.5 lakh, while districts targeting 35% will get Rs 50,000. This reward system aims to spur competition and efficiency.
A key directive eliminates fees for farmer registry. Previously, Common Service Centers and Vasudha Kendras charged Rs 15, but now the agriculture department will cover these costs, easing the burden on farmers.
Agriculture Principal Secretary Narmdeshwar Lal highlighted the importance of creating Farmer IDs for every raiyat farmer. This step promises transparent and timely access to government schemes, revolutionizing aid delivery.
Bihar’s efforts drew praise at a January 28 workshop in New Delhi by the Ministry of Agriculture. Officials presented the state’s model as exemplary, urging other states to emulate it.
Top-performing districts like Vaishali, Sheohar, Begusarai, Buxar, Sheikhpura, and Katihar received special commendation from the Chief Secretary, setting benchmarks for others to follow.
