A major security lapse has been revealed in Bihar where officials issued a residence certificate to a dog. The certificate listed the dog’s parents as ‘Kutta Babu’ and ‘Kutiya Devi.’ This certificate, issued through the Bihar RTPS portal in Patna, has raised serious questions about the integrity of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The digital signature of the Revenue Officer on the document, which requires a secure government-issued dongle, suggests a potential breach or misuse of credentials. An investigation has been launched to determine how this happened, particularly focusing on the use of a Delhi-based woman’s documents to support the application. This incident has caught the attention of political figures, including Yogendra Yadav, who highlighted the discrepancy between the certificate issuance and the rejection of other identity documents.
