In a shocking incident from Bihar’s Khagaria district, a young man who went to buy a cow returned home with a bride instead – thanks to a forced marriage at gunpoint. Munnayam Kumar from Dumaria Khurd village alleges he was lured under false pretenses, kidnapped, beaten, and coerced into wedding Kundun Kumari late at night.
The ordeal began when local Kamal Kumar Rai invited Munnayam to Kanhaiyachak village to check out a cow for sale. What followed was a harrowing journey across villages, ending in Sirajpur. There, they took his phone under the guise of charging it. When he demanded to leave, 3-4 men grabbed him, pointed weapons, and threatened violence unless he married.
Despite his protests and beatings, the marriage was solemnized around midnight. Munnayam’s family alerted authorities after he went missing, prompting police intervention. Officers from Parbatta station rescued him and registered a case based on his written complaint and a viral video circulating on social media.
The bride’s family dismisses the claims, insisting the union was consensual. Kundun Kumari says Munnayam visited often before and is now fabricating stories under his brother-in-law’s pressure. Police are investigating the video evidence to uncover the truth behind this bizarre ‘pakdaua’ marriage.
Such forced weddings highlight ongoing social issues in rural Bihar, where traditions clash with consent. Authorities urge victims to report promptly, promising strict action against perpetrators. The community watches closely as the probe unfolds.
