Another bizarre case has surfaced in Bihar, further highlighting the questionable integrity of the state’s administrative processes. Following a recent incident involving a residence certificate issued in a dog’s name, the latest instance involves a fraudulent application filed under the name of ‘Sonalika Tractor,’ a prominent tractor manufacturer. This application, originating from the Kotwa block in Motihari district, has raised eyebrows and concerns.
The application contained fabricated details, including ‘Swaraj Tractor’ as the father’s name and ‘Kar Devi’ as the mother’s name. Adding to the absurdity, it featured a photograph of Bhojpuri actress Monalisa. The application also provided details such as the Chhauradano police station, Motihari Sadar sub-division, and a masked mobile number. This deceitful act underscores the vulnerability of the online system and raises serious questions about the validity of the application process.
Motihari’s Superintendent of Police, Swarn Prabhat, has taken swift action, instructing the Kotwa police station to file an FIR and apprehend the perpetrators. Investigations are underway to trace the cyber cafe where the application was generated. Further action might be taken against the cyber cafe.
The standard administrative procedure for residence certificates requires verification of the applicant’s address. The alert officials stopped the fake application before it was issued. This incident questions the efficiency of online monitoring and accountability for the negligent employees.
