In a shocking turn of events amid Holi celebrations in Bihar’s Naugachia, a romantic rendezvous turned deadly. Two young men were gunned down in cold blood over a love affair dispute, leaving one other critically injured. The incident has sent ripples of fear through the local community, prompting swift police action with five arrests already made.
The tragedy unfolded in the Tetari Zero Mile area under Naugachia police station limits. Ajesh Kumar, originally from Pasraha in Khagaria district, had been in a long-standing relationship with a girl from Borya village in Parbatta police station area. On Holi day, Ajesh arrived in Borbas village with his friends Gulshan Kumar and Neeraj Kumar, staying at Gulshan’s relative’s house.
Seizing the festive chaos, Ajesh sneaked into his girlfriend’s home where she was alone. He entered her room for a private meeting, while his friends stood guard outside. But the secret didn’t last long. The girl’s family got wind of the intrusion and stormed the house.
Furious at finding Ajesh with their daughter, the family apprehended all three youths and began assaulting them. In a fit of rage, they dragged the trio to a nearby banana plantation by Kalbaliya Dhaar, where the brutality escalated. Shots were fired, killing Gulshan and Neeraj on the spot. Ajesh, though shot, managed to escape despite severe injuries.
The perpetrators dumped the bodies by the roadside to conceal the crime. Come morning, police discovered the corpses, igniting panic across the region. Naugachia police, under Superintendent of Police directives, formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT). Using technical surveillance and human intelligence, they cracked the case within 24 hours, arresting Nitish Kumar, Akhilesh alias Rubal, Sanjo Devi, Devo Mandal, and Vijay Mandal.
Authorities confirm this was a fallout of forbidden love and familial fury. Interrogations continue, with raids underway to recover the murder weapon. The incident underscores the perils of inter-village romances in rural Bihar, where honor clashes with young hearts.
