In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through Bihar, a young engineering student was brutally gunned down by criminals in Chhapra late Tuesday evening. Vikas Tiwari, who was pursuing his engineering degree in Patna, became the latest victim of the state’s rising lawlessness when he resisted a robbery attempt on his way home from the station.

The attack unfolded near the Nagar police station area as Vikas stepped off the train at Kachahari station and headed towards his residence. Eyewitnesses report that a group of armed miscreants confronted him, demanding his mobile phone and valuables. When the student fought back, one of the assailants fired a shot at point-blank range. The criminals then fled the scene brandishing their weapons, leaving locals horrified.

Residents rushed Vikas to the Sadar Hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. The postmortem is underway as police scramble to piece together the events. Nagar police station officers arrived promptly and have launched a manhunt, scouring CCTV footage from nearby areas for leads.

This brazen daylight murder has reignited public fury over Bihar’s deteriorating law and order. Local residents accuse the police of failing to curb the crime wave plaguing Chhapra. ‘We live in fear every day. Where are the patrols? Where is the protection?’ questioned one agitated shopkeeper.

Vikas’s family is devastated, inconsolable in their grief. They have lodged a formal complaint against the unidentified attackers and demanded swift justice. ‘My son was our hope, our future. These monsters must pay,’ sobbed his mother.

Police officials assure the public that multiple teams are actively investigating. ‘We have formed special units and are following concrete leads. The culprits will be behind bars soon,’ stated a senior officer. Yet, as the investigation continues, the incident underscores deeper systemic failures in maintaining security in Bihar’s urban pockets.

Communities across the state are calling for immediate reforms – increased patrolling, better surveillance, and harsher penalties for armed robbers. Vikas Tiwari’s tragic death serves as a grim reminder that without urgent action, more young lives hang in the balance.
