In a shocking incident in Bihar’s Purnia district, popular blogger Suraj Bihari was brutally murdered despite his affluent lifestyle and armed security. Over 36 hours after the attack, police have yet to arrest any of the seven named accused, leaving the community in fear and demanding swift justice.

Suraj, son of prominent businessman Jawahar Yadav, lived a life of luxury. With a fleet of eight high-end vehicles including a Defender, Pajero, Gypsy, and Bullet motorcycle, and an estimated monthly income of 25-30 lakh rupees, he was a social media sensation. His daily reels showcased extravagant parties, travels, and a flashy persona that captivated thousands of followers.

But on that fateful day at Nevalal Chowk in Basant Bihar, luxury offered no shield. Suraj had rushed to mediate a simmering dispute involving a local social media creator’s son, Subodh Sharma, and a rival group led by Snehil Jha. The feud, brewing for three days over a video shoot during Saraswati Puja, escalated into violence when both sides clashed again.

Suraj’s younger brother was already supporting the creator’s side. A call drew Suraj to the scene with his bodyguard, Prem Singh. Spotting him armed, Snehil alerted criminal Brajesh Singh. Soon, eight assailants on five bikes surrounded Suraj. As he reached for his licensed pistol, two bullets struck him down. His bodyguard, rushing to the car for his weapon, was also fired upon.

CCTV footage captured the entire horrifying sequence. Bleeding profusely, Suraj was rushed to Hope Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. An FIR was filed based on his brother Uday Bihari’s statement against Brajesh Singh, Nandu Singh, Snehil Jha, Aditya Jha, Aman Singh, Rajnish Singh, and Anshu Singh. Brajesh and Nandu are habitual offenders with prior cases including a 2018 remand home escape after murdering a house father, Arms Act violations, and illegal liquor sales.

Despite his father’s precautions—hiring a guard five years ago and Suraj’s own pistol—nothing could save him. This tragedy underscores the rising lawlessness in Bihar, where even wealth and power crumble against organized crime. Authorities face mounting pressure to apprehend the killers and restore public faith in the system.
