Bihar is experiencing widespread disruption due to heavy rainfall across numerous districts. The Meteorological Department had previously issued a weather alert predicting persistent rain across Bihar, including Patna, accompanied by severe thunderstorms. This extreme weather has led to extensive waterlogging, affecting communities from villages to cities.

The heavy downpour has caused significant disruptions to essential services, including road, rail, and air transport. Schools and colleges in Patna and other districts are closed. Schools in Chhapra, Siwan, Motihari, and Gopalganj are also closed today. The situation has led to flooding in several parts of Patna, and the adverse impact on agricultural lands across the state is considerable.

Power supply has been cut off in both rural and urban areas to ensure safety. A flight from Delhi to Patna was diverted to Varanasi. Rainfall data indicates that Gopalganj received the highest amount of rain at 49.5 millimeters, followed by Gaya at 28 millimeters and Aurangabad at 27.6 millimeters.

The Meteorological Department is cautioning that strong winds, with speeds of 30-40 kilometers per hour, are expected in many parts of the state. A red alert has been issued for Vaishali, Darbhanga, and Madhubani, with forecasts predicting over 200 millimeters of rainfall and the possibility of lightning strikes.
