Bihar is all set to create a new milestone in the sports arena by hosting the Asia Rugby Under-20 Sevens Championship-2025. The championship, taking place in the historical city of Rajgir starting Friday, will see participation from eight top men’s and women’s teams across Asia. These teams will compete for the Asian title. The championship will involve 192 male and female players from nine different countries, along with 32 coaches, support staff, and 50 technical officials. This two-day championship will consist of 40 matches and will be held from August 9th to 10th. The opening ceremony will be graced by the presence of the State’s Sports Minister, along with the Rural Development Minister. The men’s teams participating include China, Hong Kong, UAE, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and India. The women’s teams comprise China, Hong Kong, UAE, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and India. The Rajgir International Sports Complex is in the international spotlight and is also set to host the Hero Cup Asian Hockey Championship later in August. The event is made even more special as the Indian Under-20 teams will feature four female and two male players from Bihar. The arrival of international teams in Rajgir has already started. Teams are receiving traditional welcomes at Patna’s airport, with high-level security arranged in Rajgir. According to Rahul Bose, the President of Rugby India, the Indian teams have been well-prepared, with a month-long training camp held in Kolkata. The Indian teams will be coached by world-class coaches, including Francisco Hernandez and Kiano Fourie.
