In a tragic incident that has shaken the quiet town of Supaul in Bihar, three young men lost their lives in a horrific head-on collision between two motorcycles on Thursday afternoon. Two others are fighting for their lives in critical condition, highlighting once again the deadly consequences of reckless driving on Indian roads.
The accident occurred around 1:30 PM near Nemanma Chowk in the Kishanpur police station area. Eyewitnesses described a scene of chaos as the two bikes, speeding towards each other, smashed with tremendous force. The impact was so severe that locals rushed to the spot in panic, pulling the injured from the wreckage.
Quick-thinking residents transported the victims to Supaul Sadar Hospital. Tragically, one of the youths succumbed to his injuries during treatment, bringing the death toll to three. The remaining two, both in their early 20s, are in grave condition and are being prepared for transfer to a higher medical facility for advanced care.
Preliminary investigations reveal all victims were aged 18 to 25. Shockingly, one bike carried three riders, a clear violation of traffic norms. None of the deceased were wearing helmets, a factor likely exacerbating the fatalities. Police have seized both motorcycles and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
Kishanpur police station chief confirmed that high speed and negligence appear to be the primary causes. ‘We’re recording eyewitness statements and conducting a thorough probe,’ he stated. The bodies were handed over to families after autopsy by evening.
This incident underscores a growing crisis in the region. Locals have repeatedly raised alarms over rampant traffic violations, poor road conditions, and inadequate enforcement. As investigations continue, authorities promise strict action, but for the grieving families, it’s cold comfort amid unimaginable loss.
Bihar’s roads claim countless lives yearly due to such oversights. Urgent calls for stricter helmet laws, riding limits, and awareness campaigns grow louder with every tragedy like this.
