Today marks the culmination of the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, with vote counting in full swing to determine the state’s next government. The political landscape is dominated by the contest between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition Mahagathbandhan (MGB), led by Tejashwi Yadav. The significant presence of Jan Suraaj, the new political outfit of Prashant Kishor, introduces an unpredictable factor.

The elections witnessed an exceptional voter turnout of 67.13%, the highest since 1951, reflecting a robust democratic exercise. Women voters turned out in record numbers, contributing to the high participation. With the counting process meticulously organized across all 243 constituencies, the focus is on ensuring a fair and transparent declaration of results.

The key players are the NDA coalition, including prominent parties like BJP and JD(U), and the Mahagathbandhan, with RJD and Congress as its main constituents. The election campaign saw the NDA emphasizing its achievements, while the MGB targeted prevailing issues such as unemployment and economic disparities.

While projections from several exit polls suggest a victory for the NDA, the Mahagathbandhan maintains its belief in securing a majority. The counting day has been marked by vigilance and strong statements from various political factions, with allegations of potential irregularities being countered by assertions of fairness and confidence in the democratic process. The outcome will reveal whether Bihar opts for continued governance or a change in leadership.
