In a dramatic late-night operation, Bihar Police arrested a key suspect in a recent murder case following an intense shootout in Madhubani district. The encounter took place in the Rajnagar police station area on Sunday, where the accused, identified as Mohammad Arsad, sustained a bullet injury to his leg.
The sequence of events began on February 10 when Jiram Mandal was shot dead by unidentified assailants near Ragho Pur Balat while traveling to Madhubani. The brutal killing sent shockwaves through the local community, prompting immediate police action. Madhubani Superintendent of Police Yogendra Kumar formed a special investigation team led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Sadar-Do, to crack the case.
Through meticulous groundwork and intelligence gathering, the team pinpointed Mohammad Arsad as one of the perpetrators. Acting on a tip-off about his movements, police set up a vehicle checkpoint on Balat Road in Rampatti village under Rajnagar thana. As officers signaled a speeding motorcycle to stop, Arsad panicked and opened fire with his country-made pistol.
Police retaliated in self-defense, striking Arsad in the leg and causing him to tumble off the bike. While his two accomplices fled the scene, Arsad was swiftly apprehended along with his loaded illegal firearm. A fresh FIR has been registered at Rajnagar police station regarding the encounter.
SP Yogendra Kumar revealed that Arsad is a notorious criminal with nearly half a dozen cases of robbery, snatching, and theft pending against him across various stations in the district. Interrogation is ongoing to uncover more details about the murder and his network of associates. This arrest marks a significant breakthrough in restoring law and order in the region, assuring residents that no criminal will escape justice.
