Patna, February 17: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its probe into the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant from Jehanabad, Bihar, as the victim’s family receives yet another chilling death threat. The latest handwritten note, found near their home, has plunged the family into deeper fear amid ongoing investigations.

CBI teams conducted a thorough inspection of Shambhu Girls Hostel in Patna on Tuesday, where the student was staying, before visiting the family’s ancestral home in Jehanabad. During the probe, the deceased’s brother was taken to Patna for questioning, signaling a renewed push to uncover the truth behind the tragic incident.

The second threat note, discovered close to the family residence, warns explicitly: ‘If you don’t believe… your daughter is gone, now your son will die in two days.’ This comes just days after a similar note was thrown outside their home on February 14, despite heightened security measures.

Family members expressed profound distress, alleging that despite police presence, someone from the village managed to hurl the note near their doorstep. The repeated threats have raised serious concerns about their safety, prompting local authorities from Shakurabad police station to deploy additional personnel at the residence.

Shakurabad Station House Officer Rahul Kumar confirmed the family’s complaint and assured that investigations are underway to identify the perpetrators. However, the victim’s father voiced frustration over perceived administrative negligence, demanding stricter security and swift action. ‘We feel completely vulnerable,’ he said. ‘Two threats have been delivered right to our doorstep, threatening to kill our son. Now, we only trust in God.’

The case, which initially appeared as a suicide, took a darker turn after post-mortem and FSL reports revealed evidence of sexual assault, sparking widespread outrage. The family has accused authorities of rape and murder, claiming initial attempts to suppress the case. Following public pressure, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed, adding charges under child protection laws after declaring the victim a minor.

As CBI delves deeper, the incident underscores glaring safety issues faced by students in coaching hubs, demanding urgent reforms and justice for the grieving family.
