Patna erupted in tension on Friday as Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary took decisive action in the shocking case of a NEET aspirant’s mysterious death. Summoning Director General of Police Vinay Kumar and Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit to his residence, Choudhary demanded a thorough update on the investigation.

The move came hours after the grieving family met the minister, pouring out their anguish over their daughter’s untimely demise. The student, preparing rigorously for the NEET exam in Jehanabad, was found unconscious in Shambhu Girls Hostel. Rushed to a private hospital in Patna, she succumbed to her injuries. Postmortem and FSL reports later revealed chilling evidence of sexual assault, shattering the initial police narrative.

Despite the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT), delays in submitting reports have fueled public outrage. The family accuses the police of bribery, cover-ups, and deliberately labeling the death as suicide to derail the probe. ‘We’ve lost faith in Bihar Police,’ the mother cried during an emotional meeting with DGP Kumar, questioning if justice would ever prevail.

High-level meeting at Choudhary’s home included Patna IG Jitendra Rana, SSP Kartikeya K. Sharma, ASP Abhinav, and SIT members. Sources indicate the minister is personally overseeing every detail, with major decisions expected soon. The SIT has detained six suspects, claiming progress toward a breakthrough.

This case has ignited widespread protests and political pressure, underscoring systemic failures in women’s safety and investigative integrity. As Bihar grapples with the fallout, the demand for swift, transparent justice grows louder, testing the state’s resolve to protect its brightest young minds.
