Patna’s political scene is heating up with a traditional twist. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made a surprise appearance at a chura-dahi bhog hosted by Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan. This event, steeped in Bihari culture, signals deepening ties between the two leaders amid ongoing election buzz.

The chura-dahi feast, a staple Bihari breakfast of flattened rice and curd, has become a metaphor for political camaraderie in the state. Paswan, who has been vocal about his party’s role in the NDA alliance, invited CM Nitish to showcase unity. Accompanying Nitish was Chetan Anand, another key figure in the political circle, adding weight to the gathering.

Eyewitnesses described the atmosphere as jovial, with leaders relishing the simple yet iconic dish while discussing state development. ‘This is Bihar’s way of building bridges,’ said a local party worker. The event comes at a time when opposition parties are ramping up criticism of the ruling coalition.

Nitish Kumar’s participation underscores his strategy to consolidate support from allies like Paswan ahead of potential polls. Paswan, son of late Ram Vilas Paswan, has been positioning his party as a crucial NDA partner. Recent meetings between the duo have focused on seat-sharing and development agendas.

Political analysts see this as more than a meal. ‘Chura-dahi bhog is symbolic in Bihar politics, representing grassroots connect,’ noted expert Dr. Rakesh Kumar. With assembly elections on the horizon, such gestures could sway voter sentiment in key constituencies.

The feast also highlighted Bihar’s culinary heritage, drawing media attention to the humble dish’s role in high-stakes politics. As plates were passed around, conversations reportedly touched on agriculture, youth employment, and infrastructure – core issues for the state’s voters.

While opposition leaders like Tejashwi Yadav dismissed it as ‘photo-op politics,’ supporters hailed it as genuine camaraderie. This ‘siyasi’ feast keeps the political pot simmering in Bihar, promising more such flavorful alliances.
