Patna is buzzing with anticipation as the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government prepares to unveil its first full budget for 2026-27 on Tuesday. Finance Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav will lay out the state’s financial roadmap in the legislative assembly, marking a significant milestone in the government’s new term.
Bihar’s Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dilip Jaiswal, in an exclusive conversation, emphasized that this budget is crafted with a 20-year development vision for the state. ‘The allocation will be substantial, prioritizing women’s economic empowerment to make them self-reliant,’ he stated. Key sectors like infrastructure—roads, air connectivity, and railways—receive major boosts to enhance connectivity across Bihar.
Jaiswal highlighted skill development as a game-changer. ‘Many graduates face unemployment after BA or MA degrees. We’ve introduced training post-10th grade, along with incubation centers in technical institutes to equip youth with practical skills,’ he explained. Agro-industries are also in the spotlight, with measures to boost farmer prosperity through agricultural advancements.
Investments in education, healthcare, and power projects underscore the budget’s comprehensive approach. ‘Bihar is now India’s fastest-growing state, as per economic surveys,’ Jaiswal asserted, projecting a transformative next two decades.
Taking a swipe at the opposition, he recalled how leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav questioned the Election Commission during polls, yet Bihar’s 14 crore population, including over 7 crore voters, trusted its transparency. This budget, Jaiswal concluded, is a testament to the government’s commitment to inclusive growth.
