In a special gesture to mark India’s 75th Republic Day, the majestic Raj Bhavan in Bhopal will throw open its doors to the general public from January 25 to 27. This sprawling residence of Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel, known locally as Lok Bhavan, offers a rare glimpse into the grandeur of gubernatorial life and the state’s rich history.

Governor Patel’s directive aims to foster a deeper connection between citizens and democratic institutions. Visitors will wander through the historic halls, admire the natural beauty of the sprawling gardens, and marvel at the festive decorations specially curated for the occasion. A highlight will be the exhibition themed ‘From Raj Bhavan to Lok Bhavan,’ jointly organized by the Central Bureau of Communication and the Madhya Pradesh Public Relations Department.

Dr. Navneet Mohan Kothari, Principal Secretary to the Governor, urged everyone to seize this opportunity. ‘This is more than a tour; it’s a chance to experience democratic values firsthand and strengthen our reverence for the Constitution,’ he said. The event underscores the bridge between governance and the people, promoting dialogue, participation, and trust.

Entry timings are set from 2 PM to 8 PM daily, except on Republic Day itself, January 26, when it will be from 11 AM to 2 PM. Parking is available at the Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium complex. Visitors enter through Gate No. 1 and exit via Gate No. 4, following a designated route that includes the Lok Bhavan Secretariat, VIP Road, Golden Jubilee Auditorium (Banquet Hall), historic Durbar Hall, cannon and flag hoisting site, government exhibitions, water fountain with video wall screening short films, and the temple gate.

The exhibitions promise immersive experiences. The Central Bureau showcases ‘VB-G Ramji Scheme’ and ‘Vande Bharat’ themes, highlighting national development initiatives. The state PR department’s display traces Madhya Pradesh’s journey from its formation, featuring profiles of all governors in an engaging format, complete with short films. This initiative not only celebrates the republic but also educates on India’s progress.
