Bengaluru’s streets are choking under mountains of garbage, and the political blame game has reached a fever pitch. Karnataka BJP legislators unleashed a scathing attack on the Congress-led government on Thursday, accusing it of empty rhetoric amid the escalating waste management fiasco.
BJP MLA CT Ravi didn’t hold back while addressing reporters. He took direct aim at Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s frequent boasts about ‘Brand Bangalore.’ ‘Their version of Brand Bangalore means nothing but corruption,’ Ravi declared. ‘They’re fooling the public with tall promises while failing to address real issues. No one in power is listening to the people’s plight.’
The outburst came during a BJP state executive meeting, where Ravi highlighted the party’s grassroots strength. ‘BJP is all about building a robust organization and expanding its reach,’ he said. ‘That’s why we connect directly with people and champion their causes. Our workers are our real power, and the public knows which party stands by them.’
Ravi also turned his guns on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, labeling him a rejected figure even within his own party. ‘Congress leaders don’t accept him as their leader, and the public is turning away from his antics,’ he remarked. ‘Their alliances are crumbling, leading to repeated electoral defeats.’
In contrast, Ravi praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his unwavering commitment to public welfare. ‘Wherever BJP governs, people are content because they see tangible results,’ he added.
BJP MLA S Suresh Kumar piled on, criticizing Shivakumar for ignoring the ground reality. ‘As Deputy CM, he should empathize with residents suffering from garbage heaps in areas like Badapur and Mahadevapura,’ Kumar said. ‘Instead of empty assurances, he should commit to resolving the crisis through dialogue with legislators.’
BJP spokesperson Ajay Alok went further, branding the Congress government as thoroughly corrupt. ‘They’re obsessed with profiteering, as seen in recent plot allotments benefiting the Gandhi family,’ he alleged.
As Bengaluru grapples with this sanitation nightmare, the political rhetoric underscores deeper governance failures. Residents demand action over accusations, hoping for a cleaner, healthier city soon.
