Employees of municipal corporations throughout Karnataka, including those from BBMP, participated in a symbolic strike on Tuesday. The protest, held at Freedom Park in Bengaluru, aimed to address various demands with the state government. A number of municipal corporations were shut down as employees took part in the demonstration. The employees’ demands encompass withdrawing the Logsafe attendance system, filling vacant posts, stopping unjustified employee suspensions, decreasing the number of marshals, and granting promotions for engineers based on seniority. Participants emphasized their need for access to KGID, General Provident Fund, and the Jyothi Sanjeevini Scheme, among other benefits. They also voiced concerns about their status as semi-government employees, demanding full government employee status and associated benefits.
