The BBC has seen its top leadership reshuffled following a damaging report about editing practices that compromised its impartiality. Director-General Tim Davie and Deborah Turness, the chief executive of the news division, have resigned amidst an escalating scandal. At the heart of the controversy is a leaked internal document detailing how a speech by US President Donald Trump was allegedly doctored. The edited version implied Trump was advocating for violence on January 6, 2021, by splicing footage and misrepresenting his words. Davie asserted his decision to resign was his own, while Turness stated the ‘buck stops with me’.
