The district administration in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, demolished several illegal buildings in the city following the recent violence. The incidents took place on September 26th, triggered by a protest related to “I Love Muhammad” posters. A marriage hall, Raja Palace, owned by Dr. Nafees Ahmed, who was arrested, was demolished by the Bareilly Development Authority. Officials stated that the demolition was based on building code violations. Additionally, a house owned by Farhat, where Maulana Tauqeer Raza was allegedly hiding, was sealed. Opposition leaders have criticized the actions, claiming due process was not followed. The violence led to the detention of 50 people, and the key organizers, including cleric Tauqeer Raza Khan were arrested. The unrest prompted a 48-hour internet shutdown in Bareilly.
