In a heated Lok Sabha session on July 28, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj backed the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) (Amendment) Bill, 2026. He described the legislation as more than a statutory necessity—it is the most pressing demand of today’s students. Swaraj praised the Modi administration for introducing the bill, calling it proof of the government's care for the nation's youth.
The MP reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s earlier remarks that paper leaks constitute a serious crime. According to Swaraj, this stance reflects the government's clear intent and commitment to safeguarding exam integrity.
He warned that organized exam mafias operate across the country, making a robust legal framework essential. The amendment also addresses procedural bottlenecks that have hampered earlier judicial actions.
Notably, the bill authorises the central government to set up a dedicated task force for investigations. Presenting himself as a lawyer, Swaraj hailed the move as a decisive step toward a stronger, more effective legal regime and congratulated the Prime Minister and the Centre.
