Ayodhya, India – The spiritual heart of India, Ayodhya, witnessed a truly unbelievable Diwali celebration in 2025, illuminating its ghats with an astounding 2.6 million diyas and etching its name in history with two Guinness World Records. The 9th Ayodhya Deepotsav transformed the sacred city into a beacon of light and devotion.
Over 2.6 million earthen lamps were lit simultaneously along the Sarayu River, a breathtaking feat that has officially been recognized by Guinness World Records. This record-breaking number of lamps created a celestial panorama, reflecting a divine presence in the city.
Adding to the grandeur, 2,128 priests gathered for a Mahaaarti, the largest ever performed according to Guinness World Records. The synchronized ritual, performed on the banks of the Sarayu, was a profound moment of collective spirituality for the thousands of devotees in attendance.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who inaugurated the Deepotsav, hailed the event as a symbol of Ayodhya’s spiritual renaissance. He spoke of the transformative power of faith and the enduring spirit of the city, drawing a contrast with past challenges. The collective effort of over 32,000 students and numerous volunteers ensured the seamless execution of this massive festival.
The Deepotsav also featured an elaborate laser and light show, narrating the epic of Lord Ram. The combination of millions of flickering diyas and the vibrant light show created an unforgettable spectacle, drawing parallels to a divine descent. Since its inception in 2017, the Deepotsav has grown into one of India’s most significant cultural and religious events.
