Ayodhya’s 9th Deepotsav festival has ascended to new heights, officially recognized by Guinness World Records for three remarkable achievements. The sacred city witnessed an awe-inspiring display as 2,617,215 diyas were lit simultaneously at Ram Ki Paidi, creating a breathtaking spectacle of light. Advanced drone technology was employed to ensure accurate counting and synchronization, complemented by a stunning laser show and an aerial ballet of 1,100 drones. The spiritual significance of the event was amplified by the presence of 2,128 priests performing the Maha Aarti in unison by the Saryu River, a powerful display of collective devotion. This year’s celebration, meticulously organized by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department and local authorities, marks a third world record for the sheer volume of oil lamps lit. The Deepotsav, a tradition that began in 2017 with a world record of 171,000 diyas, has consistently pushed boundaries, surpassing previous years’ achievements. The 2024 edition saw over 2.5 million diyas lit and two world records established. The 2025 Deepotsav was a holistic celebration of Indian culture, featuring processions with chariots and tableaux depicting ancient epics, alongside performances by diverse artists. It underscores Ayodhya’s emergence as a global center for spiritual and cultural expression.
