The passing of singer Zubeen Garg triggered widespread mourning throughout Assam. The state’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, shared a moving video to explain why the people of Assam are so deeply affected by Garg’s death. The singer passed away during a scuba diving incident in Singapore. The CM addressed questions from people outside of Assam about the intense grief. The CM described three key aspects of Garg’s impact on the state: his music’s emotional resonance and reflection of Assam’s diversity, his fearless and rebellious spirit, and his extraordinarily kind and helpful character. Garg was scheduled to perform at the North East Festival in Singapore on September 20th. A state mourning period was observed from September 20th to 22nd. Garg’s music career spanned various languages, and he has left a notable impact on the music industry, as seen by his hit song ‘Ya Ali’ in Bollywood. His funeral was a display of the love and respect the public held for him.
