Jammu’s security landscape is under intense scrutiny as Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi arrived here on a crucial two-day visit. The top general is set to assess the Indian Army’s deployments and operational readiness in the face of escalating terrorist activities from across the border.

During his visit, General Dwivedi reached the White Knight Corps headquarters in Jammu on Friday. He conducted a thorough review of the current security situation, focusing on counter-terrorism grids and troop deployments in the Nagrota sector. Senior commanders briefed him on the intricacies of Operation Trashi-1, an ongoing campaign targeting militants in the region.

The winter season has historically seen heightened infiltration attempts by Pakistani terrorists through the Jammu sector. With Operation All Out still in full swing across Jammu and Kashmir, the Army remains on high alert. Intelligence sharing across multiple domains has proven vital, enabling swift and successful operations that neutralized three Pakistani terrorists in encounters over the past month.

General Dwivedi praised the professionalism and unwavering commitment of commanders operating in this complex and dynamic environment. He met with officers from other security agencies, urging all stakeholders to stay vigilant, proactive, and resolute. Sources indicate he may visit forward areas on Saturday to interact directly with troops at ground zero.

This coordination between the Army and other forces has been the backbone of recent successes against terrorism. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Bobiya Border Out Post in Kathua’s Hiranagar, saluting BSF personnel and inaugurating welfare schemes virtually. These visits underscore New Delhi’s firm commitment to border security amid persistent threats.
