NEW DELHI: Street Delivery and Highways Secretary Aramane Giridhar has been named the brand new defence secretary as a part of a top-level bureaucratic reshuffle effected by way of the Centre on Wednesday.
Giridhar, a 1988 batch Indian Administrative Provider (IAS) officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as an Officer on Particular Responsibility within the Division of Defence.
He’s going to take over as Defence Secretary after the retirement of Ajay Kumar on October 31, 2022, a Staff Ministry order stated.
Alka Upadhyaya, chairperson of the Nationwide Highways Authority of India, would be the new Street and Delivery Secretary instead of Giridhar.
