In a major breakthrough against cross-border smuggling, Amritsar Commissionerate Police has dismantled two organized modules trafficking drugs and illegal weapons from across the border. The operation led to the arrest of 10 suspects and the seizure of 5.438 kg of heroin, three high-end pistols including a Glock 9mm, a Zigana 9mm, and a .32 bore pistol, along with 34 live cartridges and Rs 4,500 in cash.

The raids were part of Punjab Police’s relentless campaign against narcotics and arms smuggling. Initial investigations reveal that the accused were in constant touch with Pakistan-based smugglers via social media platforms. The contraband was smuggled into India and then distributed through a well-structured network spanning multiple districts.

This sophisticated syndicate operated with precision, ensuring drugs and weapons reached their destinations undetected. Police have registered multiple FIRs under the NDPS Act and Arms Act, with further probes underway to unravel the entire chain and apprehend remaining associates.

Punjab Police’s ‘War Against Drugs’ initiative continues to yield results. In the past 363 days, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force has arrested 103 drug traffickers, recovering 4 kg of heroin, 2,715 narcotic pills/capsules, and Rs 3,700 in drug money. Additionally, 31 individuals have been motivated to quit drugs and enter rehabilitation programs.

Authorities emphasize zero tolerance for such crimes. ‘We will not spare anyone involved in poisoning our youth with drugs or arming criminals,’ a senior officer stated. The public is urged to report suspicious activities promptly to aid in curbing these menaces at the earliest.
