New Delhi is buzzing with anticipation as Union Home Minister Amit Shah embarks on a crucial five-day tour starting Thursday, focusing on India’s internal security hotspots. From February 5 to 7, Shah will be in Jammu and Kashmir, scrutinizing the security landscape and engaging with local stakeholders. On February 7, he heads straight to Chhattisgarh, staying until February 9 to assess anti-Naxal operations.

Arriving in Jammu around 5 PM on Thursday, Shah will chair a high-level security review meeting at Lok Bhawan. The session will include senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, intelligence agencies, Jammu and Kashmir’s civil administration, police, and Central Armed Police Forces. This comes just weeks after his last review on January 8 in Delhi, underscoring the urgency of the situation.

Post-arrival, Shah plans meetings with leaders from various political parties to gauge the ground reality. On Friday, he might visit Hiranagar in Kathua district to inspect the International Border and interact with BSF personnel on prevailing conditions. A detailed high-level security review follows, covering threats and countermeasures.

On February 7 morning, Shah shifts to Srinagar, where he’ll launch several development projects vital for the Union Territory’s progress. These initiatives aim to bolster infrastructure and foster growth amid security challenges.

Transitioning to Chhattisgarh, the Home Minister will dive deep into the Naxal counter-insurgency efforts. His itinerary includes reviewing the Naxal rehabilitation scheme and holding dialogues with tribal communities from the Bastar region. This outreach is key to addressing root causes of insurgency and promoting peace.

Shah’s visit signals the Centre’s unwavering commitment to fortifying internal security. By blending security assessments with development pushes and community engagement, the tour sets the stage for sustained stability in these sensitive areas. He returns to Delhi on February 9, armed with insights for policy refinements.
