New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today emphasized that unwavering public awareness is the cornerstone of India’s battle against drugs. Speaking at a major anti-drug campaign launch, Shah warned that narcotics pose a grave threat to the nation’s youth and future.

“In the fight against drugs, only continuous awareness can keep us safe,” Shah declared. He highlighted recent government crackdowns, including massive seizures and arrests across states, but stressed that enforcement alone isn’t enough.

The minister unveiled new initiatives under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, aiming to educate millions through schools, colleges, and community programs. “Every citizen must become a soldier in this war,” he urged, calling for parental vigilance and societal rejection of substance abuse.

Shah pointed to success stories from states like Gujarat and Manipur, where awareness drives reduced drug prevalence by over 30%. He also announced stricter laws and international cooperation to dismantle smuggling networks.

As India grapples with rising synthetic drug threats, Shah’s message resonates amid reports of 2.1 lakh NDPS cases last year. Experts applaud the focus on prevention, predicting long-term societal benefits.

The event saw participation from state chief ministers and NGOs, signaling a unified national front. Shah concluded by vowing zero tolerance, ensuring a drug-free India for generations to come.
