Dibrugarh, Assam buzzed with anticipation as Union Home Minister Amit Shah landed here late Wednesday night. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and senior BJP leaders greeted him warmly at the airport, signaling the start of a packed itinerary blending development milestones and cultural celebrations.

Kicking off Thursday’s engagements, Shah will inaugurate the second complex of the Assam Legislative Assembly in Dibrugarh. This state-of-the-art facility includes the new MLA Hostel, dubbed Vidhayak Bhawan, designed to provide elected representatives with superior living and working spaces. Officials hail it as a game-changer for the state’s legislative infrastructure, enhancing efficiency and comfort for lawmakers.

The morning schedule intensifies with the foundation stone laying for the Wildlife Health and Research Institute. Focused on wildlife disease management, veterinary care, and cutting-edge research, this institute promises to safeguard Assam’s rich biodiversity. In a region teeming with sensitive ecosystems, it will bolster conservation efforts through scientific innovation.

Sports enthusiasts have much to cheer as Shah unveils the modern Khanikar Stadium in Dibrugarh. Equipped with top-tier amenities, the venue is set to galvanize sports in upper Assam, nurturing young talents and fostering a culture of fitness and competition.

The day’s highlight takes Shah to Dhemaji district for the 10th Missing Cultural Festival at Kareng Chapori. This vibrant event showcases the Mising community’s traditions through music, dance, rituals, and indigenous heritage. Shah’s participation underscores the central government’s commitment to preserving Northeast India’s cultural mosaic.

Chief Minister Sarma captured the excitement on X, posting, ‘Honored to welcome Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Dibrugarh Airport. His visit marks key milestones in development, governance, and cultural festivities in Upper Assam. We look forward to his guidance and unwavering support for Assam’s people.’

As Assam strides forward, Shah’s tour highlights a harmonious blend of progress and heritage, promising lasting impacts on the state’s future.
