DK Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, has corroborated Rahul Gandhi’s claims regarding irregularities in the state’s voter lists. Speaking to the media, Shivakumar stated that the Congress party’s investigations in several urban booths uncovered the creation of bogus votes. These votes, he said, were shifted from various locations without proper documentation. Shivakumar announced that the party would present this evidence to the Election Commission and inform the public. The development follows Rahul Gandhi’s allegations against the Election Commission of “cheating” during the voter list revision process. Gandhi has claimed to have evidence of manipulation, including the addition and deletion of voters. The opposition has raised concerns that this process is an attempt to disenfranchise voters, especially from marginalized communities, potentially influencing the outcome of the upcoming assembly elections.
