In a tragic incident on Jaipur’s expressway, an 18-year-old girl preparing for the Indian Air Force physical test lost her life after being hit by a speeding Thar SUV. Anaya Sharma, a resident of Jhunjhunu, was out for her morning run in the Shanti Bagh area when the black Thar SUV rammed into her from behind on Wednesday morning.

Anaya was jogging with her sister as part of her daily training routine. She had been living in Jaipur with her sibling while gearing up for her dream career in the Air Force. The impact left her with severe injuries, and despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Eyewitnesses reported that the driver panicked after the collision and fled the scene. In his haste to escape, he collided with another vehicle further down the road before abandoning the SUV near Dadi ka Phatak and running away on foot. The vehicle has since been impounded by police at Kardhani police station, where a case has been registered.

Local authorities have formed special teams to track down the fugitive driver. They are scrutinizing CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and other evidence to identify and apprehend the suspect swiftly. Anaya’s postmortem was conducted, and her body was handed over to grieving family members who took it to their village for last rites.

The heartbreaking accident has ignited outrage among residents, who are demanding stricter enforcement against reckless driving on the expressway. ‘These high-speed joyrides are turning our roads into death traps,’ said one local commuter. Police have assured the public that the culprit will face severe legal consequences once caught.

This incident underscores the growing menace of rash driving in urban areas. With young lives cut short unnecessarily, there’s an urgent call for better road safety measures, including speed cameras and awareness campaigns. Anaya’s story serves as a stark reminder of the human cost behind fleeting moments of negligence.
