Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport faced a terrifying bomb threat on Wednesday, prompting immediate action from security forces. An email warning of an explosion sent shockwaves through the facility, leading to heightened vigilance across the premises.

Authorities received the menacing message at 11:05 AM on the airport’s official ID from an account named Amber Durham. The email boldly declared the airport as a target and included inflammatory remarks denying that Sikhs are Hindus, while accusing the Prime Minister and Home Minister of being enemies of Khalistan. It warned of dire consequences if demands were unmet.

Swift response followed. Airport police registered a formal complaint, and security was beefed up throughout the area. By 11:20 AM, the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee convened an emergency 30-minute meeting to evaluate the threat’s severity.

Classified as a ‘non-specific’ bomb threat, the email still warranted a full sweep of the terminals, baggage areas, and surroundings. No explosives were found, but protocols were meticulously followed to ensure passenger safety.

Security Duty Manager Ravikant Bhardwaj filed the FIR against an unknown sender under IT Act provisions and sections related to criminal intimidation. Cyber crime units are now tracing the email’s origin.

This incident echoes a similar hoax on January 23, when over 20 schools in the city received comparable threats, resulting in searches but no discoveries. Such events underscore the persistent challenge of online terror threats in urban hubs. Airport operations continued smoothly, but officials remain on high alert, prioritizing public safety amid rising digital menaces.
