Vishwash Kumar Ramesh is the sole survivor of the Air India plane crash on Thursday. He sustained injuries to his chest, eyes, and feet in the crash. He reported that a loud noise was heard, followed by the crash, approximately 30 seconds after the plane left the ground. Ramesh had recently visited India to see family and was flying back to the UK with his brother, Ajay Kumar Ramesh, when the accident occurred. He recounted seeing bodies and airplane parts scattered around the crash site. He was assisted into an ambulance and taken to a hospital. Ramesh resides in London with his wife and child. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying a total of 242 individuals, including 12 crew members, crashed soon after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday afternoon. The aircraft came down near the airport, impacting the doctors’ hostel. Of the 230 passengers, 169 were Indian, 53 were British, seven were Portuguese, and one was Canadian. The flight was under the command of Captain Sumeet Sabharwal. The aircraft, after leaving Runway 23 at 1339 IST, issued a Mayday call, but communication with ATC was lost soon after. The plane crashed just outside the airport perimeter, with heavy black smoke seen billowing from the accident location.
