A large-scale counterfeit drug operation has been busted in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the seizure of fake medications valued at around 24.3 million rupees. The operation was a combined effort of the Special Task Force (STF) and the Drug Department, who raided several locations including Bansal Medical Agency, Hema Medical Store and associated warehouses. A pharmaceutical businessman, Himanshu Agarwal, was arrested. He attempted to bribe the authorities, but was taken into custody.
The counterfeit drugs were manufactured using fake QR codes and bogus firms. The operation involved the sourcing of counterfeit medications from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and distributing them to neighboring countries including Nepal and Bangladesh. The investigation continues, with authorities expecting further arrests and the potential uncovering of more individuals involved in the scam.
