Jammu, February 7: Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta hailed the successful test-firing of India’s Agni-3 missile as a shining symbol of the nation’s growing defense prowess. Speaking on the landmark achievement, Gupta emphasized the central government’s unwavering commitment to making India self-reliant in defense manufacturing.
‘This test is a pivotal step in enhancing our strategic capabilities,’ Gupta stated. He highlighted ongoing efforts to promote indigenous weaponry and cutting-edge technologies, underscoring India’s push towards becoming a defense powerhouse.
In a related development, Gupta welcomed the US decision to slash tariffs on Indian goods to 18 percent. He attributed this shift to India’s robust market influence, noting how New Delhi’s exploration of alternative trade routes strengthened its bargaining position after initial tariff hikes.
The trade agreement, Gupta said, promises significant gains for Indian farmers in fruits, vegetables, and pulses, while consumers stand to benefit from lower prices. ‘This deal, made possible by strong leadership, will accelerate India’s economic growth,’ he added.
Turning to regional security, Gupta issued a stern warning on Pakistan following recent blasts that claimed several lives. He described the neighboring country as a breeding ground for terrorism, where the military operates unchecked and groups like ISIS thrive amid political instability.
‘Pakistan’s leadership is fragile—today’s prime minister could be tomorrow’s prisoner or exile,’ Gupta remarked, likening the nation to a self-destructive Bhasmasura from mythology, digging its own grave through flawed policies.
On a celebratory note, Gupta congratulated Team India for clinching the ICC Under-19 World Cup. He credited initiatives like Khelo India and Prime Minister Modi’s encouragement for the surge in sporting medals and global recognition across disciplines, including cricket.
