In a groundbreaking achievement, Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has become the first company in India—and possibly the world—to deliver one crore smart electricity meters to power distribution companies (discoms). This milestone was announced from Ahmedabad on Thursday, marking a pivotal moment in India’s energy transformation.
AESL, India’s leading Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider (AMISP), is tasked with installing 2.5 crore smart meters across five states. The company is currently deploying 25,000 meters daily, setting an industry benchmark for speed and scale.
Kandarp Patel, CEO of AESL, hailed the accomplishment as proof of the firm’s execution prowess and strong ties with discoms and consumers. ‘These aren’t just meters; they’re catalysts for real-time consumption data, grid reliability, loss reduction, and efficient energy management,’ he stated.
Surpassing its own target of reaching one crore installations by March 31, 2026, AESL has accelerated the digital shift in retail power distribution. This aligns seamlessly with the government’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), aiming to replace 25 crore conventional meters nationwide with smart ones.
The smart meter network empowers consumers with live data, enhances billing transparency, and fortifies discom operations. Partnering with affiliates like Adani EsyaSoft Smart Solutions and AdaniConneX for local data hosting, AESL ensures timely delivery through tie-ups with premium meter brands.
Launched in 2024, AESL achieved this feat in under 24 months, cementing its position as India’s fastest smart meter installer. As India modernizes its power grid, AESL’s role in the digital energy revolution stands unmatched, promising reduced losses, better service, and a sustainable future.
