KOLKATA: In a fiery rebuttal to mounting political pressures, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee declared that neither his party nor the people of West Bengal will ever compromise their principles for power or money. Speaking at a massive rally in the heart of Kolkata, Banerjee slammed accusations of corruption and appeasement leveled against his party by opposition forces.
“TMC or the people of Bengal do not know how to sell their spine,” Banerjee thundered, drawing thunderous applause from the crowd. He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of trying to destabilize the state government through fabricated scandals and central agency raids. Banerjee highlighted how Bengal has withstood relentless attacks on its sovereignty, from post-poll violence inquiries to Enforcement Directorate summons.
The diamond harbour MP delved into the state’s achievements under Mamata Banerjee’s leadership, pointing to robust economic growth, welfare schemes like Duare Sarkar, and infrastructure booms. He contrasted this with the BJP’s alleged failures in other states, where unemployment and farmer distress run rampant. “They call us names, but Bengal stands tall with its head held high,” he asserted.
As elections loom, Banerjee rallied workers to expose the BJP’s “jumla” promises. He urged unity against divisive politics, emphasizing TMC’s commitment to inclusive development. The speech has electrified party cadres, signaling a robust defense strategy ahead of crucial battles.
Political analysts see this as a masterstroke, reinforcing TMC’s narrative of resilience. With Banerjee emerging as the party’s strategic brain, the TMC-BJP showdown in Bengal promises high drama.
