KOLKATA: In a fiery speech during his ‘Abbar Jot Bo Bangla’ campaign rally in Purulia, Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee launched a scathing attack on BJP MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato. Banerjee accused the two-time MP from Purulia of failing miserably to bring any development to the district despite his long tenure.
Drawing stark contrasts between the past and present, Banerjee highlighted how Purulia was once plagued by Maoist violence, political unrest, and administrative paralysis before 2011. ‘People lived in fear and uncertainty back then,’ he said, crediting the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government with restoring peace and normalcy to the region.
Banerjee pointed to improved connectivity and ongoing development projects as proof of TMC’s commitment. He questioned Mahato’s achievements during the 11 years of Narendra Modi’s central government, specifically calling out chronic delays in key trains like the Chakradharpur Express and Puruliya Express. ‘If not a single train reaches Howrah on time, what has the MP done in all these years? Someone who can’t fix train delays won’t deliver development,’ Banerjee remarked.
The TMC leader rallied the crowd to wipe out BJP from Purulia entirely. He made a bold promise: if TMC wins all seats in the district, he would fulfill every local demand within six months of the assembly election results. ‘I know your pending demands, and I assure you, we’ll address them swiftly under TMC rule,’ he declared, igniting cheers among supporters.
This aggressive push comes as TMC gears up for the upcoming elections, positioning itself as the true champion of Bengal’s development against BJP’s empty promises.
