Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has voiced strong opposition to the arrest of Sonam Wangchuk, a Ladakh activist, by the Narendra Modi government. Wangchuk is peacefully advocating for full statehood for Ladakh-Kargil, along with essential rights in education, health, and employment. Singh condemned the arrest as an act of dictatorship and warned that suppressing the voices of the people of Ladakh would likely incite major public unrest.

In a video message, Singh highlighted that Wangchuk is a true patriot. He has dedicated himself to educating children who are often marginalized. Singh further explained that Wangchuk’s primary demands include full statehood for Ladakh-Kargil, along with access to education, employment, land, and healthcare. Singh pointed out that Wangchuk has been advocating for these rights peacefully, including a hunger strike and a padyatra. Singh criticized the government’s imposition of the National Security Act (NSA) on Wangchuk, calling it deeply unfortunate, given his commitment to peace.

Singh cautioned Prime Minister Modi against the decision, emphasizing that the people of Ladakh are patriotic and have consistently stood with the nation, even in the face of Chinese incursions. Singh asserted that the people of Leh, Ladakh, and Kargil have always supported the Indian Army and the Government of India. Singh concluded by stating that the AAP firmly supports Sonam Wangchuk, the people of Ladakh, and their legitimate demands.
