In a decisive move to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of revered spiritual figure Sadhvi Prem Baisa, Jodhpur Police Commissioner Om Prakash has constituted a nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT). Led by ACP Chhavi Sharma, the team is tasked with a thorough examination of every possible angle in this high-profile case.
Commissioner Prakash, speaking exclusively to reporters, emphasized the commitment to an impartial probe. ‘We have already begun recording statements from individuals associated with her,’ he revealed. The investigation has zeroed in on an injection administered mere seconds before Sadhvi Prem’s demise, raising critical questions about its role.
Police sources indicate no major conspiracy is being ruled out at this stage. Investigators are meticulously combing through mobile call records, CCTV footage from the Sadhana Kutir Ashram on Pal Road, Jodhpur, and other digital evidence from the hours leading up to the tragedy.
At the center of scrutiny is compounder Devi Singh, who has been detained for questioning. Authorities are probing whether the injection was administered on a doctor’s advice, the nature of the drug used, and its potential contribution to the sadhvi’s death. The post-mortem report, eagerly awaited, is expected to shed light on the exact cause and timing.
The SIT plans to expand its inquiry to include Sadhvi Prem’s father and members of the ashram. Hailing from Pareu village in Balotra, Prem Baisa overcame early hardships after losing her mother at age two. Under the guidance of spiritual mentors Sant Rajaram and Sant Kriparam Maharaj, she mastered Bhagwat Katha recitations and devotional singing, earning statewide acclaim.
Her Sadhana Kutir Ashram, inaugurated by luminaries like Baba Ramdev, became a beacon of spirituality. Yet, her untimely death has sparked outrage and probing questions across Rajasthan, demanding answers and justice.
