India is set to celebrate its 79th Independence Day, a momentous occasion marked by nationwide festivities. The day is a symbol of national pride and commemorates the country’s hard-won freedom from British rule in 1947. This day represents the sacrifices of the freedom fighters, the progress of the nation, and the unity of its people. Prime Minister Modi will hoist the flag at the Red Fort and deliver a speech to the nation following a 21-gun salute.

This will be Prime Minister Modi’s twelfth address from the Red Fort. This year’s theme, ‘New India’, focuses on building a prosperous, secure, and self-reliant India by the year 2047. The Independence Day celebrations will include 5,000 special guests, such as Special Olympics 2025 athletes, farmers, village heads (sarpanches), young writers, and sanitation workers. The success of Operation Sindoor will also be celebrated during the ceremony. For the first time, the national anthem band will feature Agniveers.

Eighty-five sarpanches from various parts of India will participate in the celebrations. Independence Day will be celebrated in every corner of the country. Colorful tableaux will be displayed on Kartavya Path, showcasing the might of the Indian armed forces. Extensive security measures are in place around the Red Fort, with over 11,000 security personnel deployed, CCTV surveillance, and snipers stationed on nearby buildings.

In light of the event at the Red Fort, the Delhi Traffic Police has implemented traffic diversions. The area around the Red Fort will be closed to traffic between 4 am and 10 am. Keep following for live updates on Independence Day.
