In a significant breakthrough against Maoist insurgency, security forces in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district neutralized three Maoists during an ongoing operation in the dense Abujhmad forests. The encounter, which spanned two days along the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border, saw intense firefights that left two additional Maoist bodies—a man and a woman—recovered on Friday morning.

Police teams recovered an AK-47 rifle and an SLR from the site, marking a major haul in weapons. This brings the total Maoists killed to three: two men and one woman. Identities of the deceased remain unconfirmed as operations continue in the challenging terrain.

Tragedy struck the forces as well. C-60 commando Deepak Chinna Madavi, 38, from Aheri, sustained critical injuries and succumbed despite being airlifted to Bhameragad sub-district hospital. Another jawan, Joga Madavi from Kishtayapalli, was wounded overnight but is now stable after medical evacuation and awaits transfer to Gadchiroli.

The operation underscores the relentless efforts of Gadchiroli police to curb Naxal activities. Search operations persist with cordons in multiple forest sections, reflecting heightened vigilance. Officials affirm that anti-Naxal campaigns will intensify to secure the region.

This clash highlights the persistent Maoist threat in India’s heartland, where security forces balance aggressive pursuits with minimizing casualties. As intelligence drives further probes, the recovery of arms signals progress in dismantling rebel networks.
