New Delhi witnessed a landmark moment in public health as Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the nationwide HPV vaccination drive from Ajmer on Saturday. Describing it as a pivotal step towards empowering India’s ‘Nari Shakti’ and safeguarding the health of mothers and daughters, PM Modi personally engaged with young girls who had received the vaccine.
In a heartfelt interaction shared via a video on social media platform X, the Prime Minister conversed with vaccinated teens about their experiences. He inquired about the vaccination process and their understanding of cervical cancer, a deadly disease claiming numerous women’s lives annually. One girl explained how she asked the doctor about cervical cancer and learned that the vaccine, targeted at 14-15-year-old girls, provides crucial protection.
PM Modi probed further, asking if anyone discouraged her from getting vaccinated or suggested waiting for others. The girl confidently replied in the negative, affirming her smooth experience. He then encouraged her to spread the word, to which she enthusiastically agreed.
Turning to a group of girls, the Prime Minister sought their commitment to raising awareness in neighborhoods, villages, and schools. They nodded in unison, promising to motivate peers. PM Modi hailed these vaccinated girls as brand ambassadors for the campaign, urging them to inspire others to join the fight against cervical cancer.
This initiative marks a decisive push in India’s battle against preventable cancers, emphasizing early intervention and community involvement. With PM Modi’s personal touch, the drive is poised to gain massive traction, potentially saving countless lives and fostering a healthier future for Indian women.
